We have engaged the services of Andrew and Amanda (Balance Architecture) on no less than three occasions. Our initial commissioning of Andrew some twenty years ago stemmed from his respectful appreciation of the heritage / era of our home’s style. On each occasion Andrew and/or Amanda have supported our goals through practical design solutions that are aesthetically pleasing, functional and most importantly bring joy to our family life. As busy career people we are often time poor and their attention to detail, knowledge and ability to communicate broadly brings with it the reassurance that the project will be successfully completed to a high standard with good compliance to budget. We impeccably trust the work of Amanda and Andrew and have been extremely happy with the results, but also the journey from engagement to finalisation. Furthermore we have and will continue to recommend them to our dear friends.

We used Andrew as our architect for a significant remodelling of our house – a small 2 bedroom semi-detached with its own garden in leafy Hawthorn. Andrew showed great ability to maximise the usage of space and produced a number of good ideas from his considerable experience of this sort of work.
We finished with a capacious kitchen with plenty of windows looking out to the rear garden and this incorporated the laundry also – a significant improvement in the 1936 design of the house. We also achieved a large and small bathroom and more storage space by closing off a corridor.
With our second project with Andrew, the garage, awkwardly placed behind the house, was completely rebuilt and became a studio/outdoor office, or if necessary emergency accommodation. I am currently using it as a library/art studio. We also replaced the front driveway.
Andrew has a good sense of colour and with his computer programs, can give you a good idea visually of your new design on completion.
Moreover, he knows a good number of builders and the team we finally finished u with gave every satisfaction.

Architectural Design – Period Home – Moonee Ponds
Kevin and I would like to thank you, Andrew, for your extraordinary original design of our renovation/extension to our home in Moonee Ponds.
Whilst our house is unique and challenging, being that it is not a particular era but a combination of Arts and Crafts and English Manor style with an unusual shaped land block, you creatively established user friendly accommodation empathic to the era that has the WOW finish. But it still remains a family home. Truly amazing and so impressive. There is not one visitor who fails to provide a flattering remark.
We knew from our initial interview that your design would have that awesome original ingredient as you gently dismissed ideas from other sources, displaying the architectural confidence of creation conceptualisation of your own ideas. And we were not disappointed.
You listened to our needs and presented us with a design that “achieved and satisfied all our goals but not in the way we envisaged” and that is the essential element that a great architect offers.
We were presented with a truly inspiring architectural design which successfully achieved our goals in the best possible way.
Because our indoor pool is stunning with gorgeous high ceilings, opening onto to our BBQ area that you insisted should border our kitchen and pool for it to be used easily and regularly, which was so practical, and also let’s not forget your innovative garage concept. The garage presented a challenge as it was different but you brought to fruition a totally unthought-of idea (by us), making full use of the space in our L shaped land, able to easily have 4 cars in and out without moving other cars. We cannot emphasise how truly simple this has made our everyday living. Our BBQ is used regularly, and our pool/spa is used by all and our children are still booking the pool and rumpus room for their friends get togethers’ and we are still spending and spending on those pizza’s for them but that is exactly the environment we asked you to create and for this we thank you.
So we take this opportunity to compliment you on your architectural design that successfully achieved the marrying of a period design that was empathic to the original house and the land shape and which encompassed every idea that we wanted to achieve. Too, you have an innate understanding of building and all its facets so it’s not just about being an architect but also being able to achieve the architectural outcome in the best way. In this regard you were always available at any time when we had a query or to find a practical solution to any issue in the construction. This was invaluable.
We also look forward to the successful completion of our current project with yourself involving renovations and enhancement to our beach house.
We have no hesitation in recommending Andrew.
We would be happy to speak to any prospective clients in regard to Andrew’s work with us.

I have known Andrew Fedorowicz for approximately 11 years. As an Architect, he has been responsible for a large number of fine architectural projects within the city of Moonee Valley (formerly the City of Essendon).
I have commissioned him on behalf of this municipality for a number of projects which he has completed with a high degree of professionalism.
In early 1995, he administered a small project to construct a number of offices to be occupied by the Commissioners of Moonee Valley.
He worked firstly in an architectural capacity to provide concept designs and documentation for building permits and tenders. He then proceeded to act as Project Administrator, administering the actions of a large number of tradesmen on our behalf.
The scope of the work included:
• Construction of three offices including a reception area
• Alteration of existing lighting and air conditioning services to the offices
• Provision of electrical, telephone and data cabling all in conjunction with existing services
• Design and construction of reception desk
• Design only of Chief Executive wall unit
• Provision of card reader security facilities to this and the Council Chamber in total
• Supply and installation of blinds
• Supply and installation of signage
He developed an excellent rapport with our staff, and the project proceeded without delay, especially considering the difficult time of year (being Christmas 1994).
No doubt there will be other projects within this municipality for which we shall use his services.
I recommend him most highly to any organisation requiring an Architect with excellent organisational skills.
Transitional Projects Manager,
Moonee Valley City Council
Andrew Fedorowicz administered a small office refurbishment project for the City of Moonee Valley when I was the Interim Chief Executive Officer there in late 1994, early 1995.
He was given an impossible time frame to construct three offices, including a reception area, ensuring that all ancillary services including security arrangements and signage was completed without delay. It was a difficult time being during the Christmas Holiday period.
His documentation was produced quickly and quotes were arranged without delay. He administered this project without fuss primarily because he had a loyal team of tradesmen at his disposal.
I found him easy to deal with and he was ready to execute my of my requests. He is courteous and his credibility is of a high standard.
I can thoroughly recommend him for any Architectural and/or Project Administration role.
John W Watson,
Chief Executive Officer,
Hume City Council
Mr Andrew Fedorowicz was commissioned by the Moonee Valley Racing Club to design and administer the construction and fit-out of its Gaming Centre in 1991.
In 1995 he was appointed to design and administer the re-theming of the Gaming Centre.
In the four (4) weeks since the completion of the latest project the new facility has received wide acclaim and the gaming operations have surpassed expectations.
i recommend Mr Fedorowicz for the quality of his architectural services.
