Happy Christmas from Balance Architecture and Interior Design

Balance Architecture and its principals Andrew Fedorowicz and partner Amanda Richmond would like to wish all their clients and associates a very safe, happy and fulfilling Christmas with a prosperous and exciting New Year to follow.

The Balance team will return from vacation in late January. For any urgent matters after the 6th of January, please contact our office on 03 8696 9700.

This week we take a look at an ongoing project Andrew has been engaged to supervise and complete in Anglesea. A holiday house, the property was first purchased in the early 1980s by Kevin and Beverly Efurth. Kevin and Beverly are long term clients of Andrew Fedorowicz, with Andrew having remodelled and further developed the Efurth home located in Moonee Ponds to their great satisfaction and ongoing pleasure and enjoyment.

The Moonee Ponds home is featured on the Balance Architecture and Interior Design website and it is indeed a magnificent renovation and redevelopment completed meticulously to Andrew Fedorowicz’ architectural drawings and plans.

The current house is a family’s beach house, built in the early 1980s. A two story home with a weatherlex top story and a rendered brick lower story.

Andrew has now completed the plans for the site redevelopment. These include a new roof over a rear verandah that creates a large entertainment living area for billiards, audio visual and for entertaining guests.

Another major addition is the formidable 2 car garage with very high ceilings designed to comfortably house the family’s boats complete with a large storage room in the rear.

To complete the makeover there is a new contemporary facade that brings the whole property into the 21st century with a modern look more appropriate to today’s standards, including new architraves on the front windows to give a more substantial visual adding kerbside appeal.

So until next time, have a good break and we’ll see you in 2017. Once again have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Construction Projects

Andrew Fedorowicz and Amanda Richmond are partners in Balance Architecture and Interior Design. Together they are currently restoring historic Palm House in Maldon, Victoria to its former glory.

Current Major Project – Cragieburn Sports Club

For Andrew however his major project currently is, as we mentioned last week, the Cragieburn Sports Club. Stage 3 of the building expansion program is now under way with Andrew as Supervising Architect maintaining an overview of all new building and construction at the venue.

The current phase of construction continues Andrew’s long involvement with the club. This commenced in the 1990s when he commenced working for the venue and its club management. A larger building was developed to incorporate the rapid expansion of the popular club and to facilitate the growing membership’s very real requirements.

Further to this significant additions to the complex were planned and implemented between the mid 1990s and 2000. These included the very extensive Tabaret facility and its building as well as what was then a TAB and also a Golf Pro Shop. This was affectionately known as the ‘West Wing’ extension in that the extension ran off the main building to the west.

East Wing Construction and Facility Upgrades

This third round of construction, about to get underway is on what will effectively become the ‘East Wing’. It will as suggested be at the Eastern end of the main building and will incorporate a flowing sandstone wall to blend the different edifices together providing a pleasing vista to soften the 1960s original building.

As described previously, this new ‘East Wing’ will provide two new function rooms, two substantial new bars, a major commercial kitchen to service the new facilities and a large interior children’s playroom with contemporary indoor play equipment and a clear, open glass wall to the bistro and parents seating.

The existing kitchen is being totally remodelled and restructured with new larger cool rooms, freezer rooms, new work benches, new stove tops and ovens and on a far bigger scale. It will be in fact ‘State of the Art’ and provide immeasurably better facilities.

The Engine room for all this will be a new large basement area. The basement will house a new refrigerated storage area for beer kegs, kept cool at a constant 4ºC. This area, the bistro, function rooms and existing facilities will be serviced by new switch rooms and electronic controls that monitor and control all refrigeration, cooling, heating and power usage, also located in the new basement level.

It is truly an exciting project and one Andrew Fedorowicz and his team are justifiably proud of.

Next week, with the holiday season fast approaching we will visit a delightful refurbishment at a beachside holiday home in Anglesea, a project now underway and again supervised by Architect Andrew Fedorowicz.

Andrew has developed the planning stage and all architectural drawings for this brilliant new facility. Servicing one of Melbourne’s fastest growing population corridors, the new complex houses 2 new purpose built function rooms designed to seat 400 people and accommodate weddings, family celebrations and corporate functions.

The new function rooms will be serviced with a state of the art commercial kitchen and two splendid well stocked bars. The new major extensions compliment the original Tabaret extension that was completed to house over 100 gaming machines also designed and executed by Andrew Fedorowicz previously.

The Craigieburn Sports Club features a 18 Hole Golf Course, a challenging yet interesting course that attracts both regional and interstate interest.
